Business Studies: Accounting and Business Administration

Business Studies has presented four programmes for accreditation: Bachelors of Science in Business Adminstration (BBA), B.Sc. Accounting, Diploma in Business Administration (DBA) and Diploma in Accounting.Societies and their economies today are influenced by many factors two of which are technological advancement and the complex global economy. A constant element that has always maintained its importance is the efficient and effective management of the available resources. The accomplishment of the task of effective and efficient management of resources entails the training of men and women who will be equipped with Know-How and Do-How tools, enabling them to discern the changes taking place in the given society and/or economy and to lead the change appropriately. Graduates of ReCAS in BBA are prepared to lead local businesses with the standards of multinational companies.Complex situations call for equally well-trained personnel who will lead a national economy to meet the challenges posed by technological change and the increasing global economy. The Programmes in the Department of Business Studies provide the graduates with a strong, broad-based education in businesses and functional understanding of management principles and functions in an organization. The programmes aim at developing students' intellectual ability, executive personality and managerial skills through an appropriate blend of business acumen and professional Do-How.  The motto of the Department of Business is: Start your future Business Today!

Computer Science and Information Technology

Computer Science and Information Technology has presented two programmes for accreditation: B.Sc. Computer Science and Information Technology and Diploma in Computer Science.

The growing development in information and communication technologies such as internet banking, e-commerce and online shopping have had significant impact on society and have transformed the way modern business is conducted. The effect is an increasing real demand for computer scientists, software engineers and programmers who have a thorough and clear understanding of the underlying principles of managing business and people.

The B.Sc in Computer Science and information Techology prepares students for both the technical side of computing and for careers in management related to Information Technology. The programme offers students a detailed understanding of the underlying principles of both computer science and information technology, and exposes them to how these principles work in real business world. The question that accompanies the students is how to give solutions to the social problems in their society.

Agricultural Science for Social Change

The unit called Agricultural Science for Social change offers a four-year undergraduate course leading to the BSc. Degree in Agriculture for Social Change and a two-year Diploma programme. The curricula have been uniquely tailored to career goals and provide diverse opportunities to explore international and local agriculture and leading edge agricultural research in plant, Irrigation, post-harvest and pest management. The programme is so structured to ensure ready job market for our graduates. The department has a philosophy of providing quality training which blends theory with practicals to prepare students to face real world situation and also offer practical solution to problems.  We are training agricultural scientists who are imbued with entrepreneurial skills for the development of their community.


Education unit runs its programmes (B.Ed. in Basic Education and Dip. in Basic Education) based on the principle that teacher professionalism stems from sound religious and moral values, commitment to social justice and inclusion and good balance of skill competences and theoretical understanding of the basic education curriculum. Hence, it seeks to produce competent and sound pre-service and in-service professionals who are committed to working with young children of diverse backgrounds. The goal of the programme is to prepare knowledgeable, professionally competent and ethical conscious teachers who can contribute effectively to the on-going national agenda of promoting quality education.

The Basic Education Programmes of ReCAS are in line with national demand for quality teachers to drive its on-going educational quality improvement programme. The programmes are aimed at not only filling this huge gap in the preparation of teachers for the basic schools in Ghana, but also contribute to the current equity and parity challenges. The location of ReCAS in rural Kansoe setting of the Upper East Region is intended to condition its products to appreciate rural conditions and challenges as they live with and learn within that setting.

Blending the typical Education Programmes with those of Business and Career Development Center the young teachers are prepared to be customer-oriented (Pupil-oriented).
